Keeping Track Of Man’s Best Friend

Posted by Steve McJuary on 5/7/2015

Dogs want to go everywhere with their human companions and most times humans would love for their pets to go everywhere with them. Sometimes though, it isn’t safe to bring your dog with you everywhere. Dogs have a natural instinct to hunt and typically enjoy being in the great outdoors.

Hunting breeds still need training and monitoring to ensure they don’t wander off.

There are tricks to train your dog to stay within a safe distance with the use of a remote trainer. This method can be utilized for many different types of training, but for the purpose of hunting specifically, this could work out well.

Here’s a remote trainer for example. Simply slip the collar on your dog and you keep the remote in your hand. Start with a large fenced in area, in case they decide to take off the first chance they get. Let your dog walk in front of you as far as you feel comfortable, if they start to go too far and are not listening to your voice commands simply press the button. This button will send a pulse to your dog warning them they are going too far.

Eventually your dog will get used to what distance is ok, and you will notice yourself using the remote less and less. Soon you will be able to stop using the impulse and using only a beeping noise they will hear from the collar. The ultimate goal will be to not use the collar at all. All dogs can be taught, some may take longer than others.

Pet Fence & Battery has all types of tools and equipment to help train your pets and more. For more information on the remote trainer or any of the products we offer, contact us today!
