My competitor advertises that his wire is EXCLUSIVE ETL Listed & Approved Conforms U/L STD 83 - 45 MIL PE.
THIS IS NOT DOG FENCE WIRE! IT WHAT IS CALLED GAS LINE TRACER WIRE!
It is a HIGH Density Polyethylene stiff wire that is very hard to work with. Our wire is a LOW Density Polyethylene made for Dog Fence installations.
We also founded our house brand name Monster Dog Fence Wire 8 years ago. The name is now being used by our competitor in an attempt to boost their sales.
Their wire is GAS LINE TRACER WIRE and has no comparison to what we offer.
Unfortunately we have no official trademark so there is nothing we can do. Please don't be fooled by the name.
We sell both STRANDED and SOLID wire because everyone seems to have their own preference and the choose is yours. Look at the copper conductor size for strength not the jack. A 45 mil jacket is also thick enough. Please click on our store link to find our stranded wire listings. Contrary to the claims by our competitors we feel from experience that STRANDED wire is a better choice for a direct burial dog fence. I am also like my competitor, a Master Electrician. However, unlike my competitor who has never installed a Dog Fence. I learned the business from the founder(s) of the Invisible Fence Brand, the industry leader over 8 years ago. We were encouraged (as well as my own electrical experience) to use STRANDED for the following reasons: STRANDED WIRE will not kink under any circumstance. You can tie it in a knot and you won't damage it. If you kink a SOLID WIRE it will exceed the maximum bending radius for solid wire and cause damage to the conductor, a weak spot that will break off if it is bent again. If you strip the SOLID WIRE jacket with a knife or wire strippers, be sure not to leave a ring or nick around the wire. It will cause a weak spot and break. Use of SOLID WIRE in COLD CLIMATES where the ground freezes can SNAP SOLID WIRE if the ground heaves or is disturbed. If SOLID WIRE is buried directly in rocky soil or its even partially chewed by an animal, it can break.
STRANDED WIRE (especially ours) with 19 STRANDS of COPPER is much more flexible and more chew resistant.
From my experience as a Master Electrician we would never use SOLID WIRE on Direct Burial Feeders supplying power to Homes, Commercial or Industrial Buildings.
